
Phenomxnal Womxn is a short documentary film that takes an intimate look into the lives of womxn in Ghana. The film shares the stories of remarkable womxn whom are often neglected from media, representation and history as a whole by highlighting the incredible strength, innovation, cultural richness, and entrepreneurial spirit of Ghanaian womxn as they overcome adversity in everyday life.
The film’s narrative unfolds through a series of storylines told from different communities: weavers, market womxn, farmers and hawkers. At the heart of these narratives are issues of both patriarchal oppression and systemic marginalization, as well as the resilience that these womxn possess in breaking discriminatory boundaries within these communities. The womxn share their personal experiences dealing with inequity and overcoming hardship as they define what it means to be womxn.
