ROCCO UP, 22min., USA, Documentary
Directed by John Madere
Rocco is an autistic boy who has always felt at home in the ocean. He lives in Montauk with his parents and younger sister. Ben, Rocco’s father, who has always dreamt of having a surfing son, sets out to teach Rocco, who is non-verbal, to surf. Sara, Rocco’s mother, takes the lead on his cognitive and language development.

IRIDESCENT, 16min., USA, Documentary

When it comes to the discovery and documentation of birds, Tim Laman is one of the best in the world. As he entered the final curation stages of his forthcoming book, Bird Planet, fellow bird lover and National Geographic photographer Keith Ladzinski reached out with an opportunity to go on safari in one of the world’s birding hotspots, Brazil’s Pantanal region. It had been on Tim’s bucket list for years but he had yet to visit, so he jumped at the chance to photograph some of South America’s best birds.

LONG WAY FROM HOME, 45min., Egypt, Documentary
Directed by Mostafa El Soly
After being subjected to a physical disability that almost killed her, the stray dog, Layaly, was moved to a shelter to recover physically and psychologically. Soly the filmmaker decided to follow her story from day one till the end . Doctors diagnose her neck injury as permanent and incurable. They expected she would die within a short time if she did not respond to physical and psychological treatment. The dog’s condition worsens in her new shelter and her days in life seem numbered.
