Toby has spent most of his career as an editor working on broadcast documentaries and ads. For the past few years he has been running the video department at The Nature Conservancy, where he has been lucky to make hundreds of short films to inspire people to protect nature.
Director Statement
This story was originally made in a very short film for an Earth Day campaign by The Nature Conservancy, shown here as the “trailer”. We heard from so many people that were inspired by Dr. Lanham’s story, that we wanted to expand it into a more compelling longer film. I have also been moved and motivated by his story. He has a powerful message about our connection to the natural world, and how we can learn from it. I would like that message to reach more people, and give them hope in these often dispiriting times.
