By day, Sarah, a shy, anxious girl in her early thirties, struggles to live life as she was always told she should: unannounced, dutiful, obedient. By night she is Eileen, an outgoing, bolshy drag queen whose priority is to undermine everything that Sarah stands for. Using intimate coverage of her life and interviews with people who know her, Eileen and I goes under Sarah’s skin in search of the root causes of her peculiar split personality. In digging deep below the surface, film maker Sam Pearson arrives at some dark depths of Sarah’s childhood, the traumas of which she is still dealing with today.
